3:7:2007 They thought us lost...no such luck. They thought us dead, yet here we are. They tried to silence us, but the muzzle is off...I give you, The Gamestas! Perhaps its not as impressive as the emergence of King Kong, but at least we bring with us an interview with the crew of the Midnight Chronicles movie, with Jon Anderson and Kris Allen at the helm. Like us this one is here to stay, so renew your acquantince with Episode -13. -Tyler P.S. Keep your eyes open for a little somethin' down under to go with your Southern Fried Gamestas.
This week, I get to get my personal fandom out of the way, as we speak to long time Werewolf developer (of both Apocalypse and Forsaken) and the man behind the wheel of the highly anticipated Changeling, Ethan Skemp. Delve into the lives of the Moon Mad and the Fae Touched, and glean a little about how you go about following up a fan favorite with something even better. It ain't no silver bullet, but fire away with Episode -12. 10:09:2006 This show has been loaded on the site for a few days now, but now you guys can get your hands on it! Keith Senkowski joins us to talk about a game which can truly be called unique, Untitled. Here more about this new experience from the folks at Bob Goat, as well as the latest on Conspiracy of Shadows and hints of Keith's next project. All of the dirty secrets are locked inside Episode -11. P.S. We need some help from you guys in keeping this thing running smoothly, as we attempt to expand and add content. Click here to see how you can help. -Tyler 9:29:2006 Because Mr. Senkowski was so belligerent about it (and it fit in with our normal routine), we decided to post up Part 2 of our fantasy extravaganza. We get Luke Crane off the cliff, and then forge ahead Gamestas style. Listen and laugh at Episode -10 Part 2. -Tyler Knife (so dubbed by Jared Sorensen) 9:21:2006 Damn it's been a long time since an update! I promise it shan't happen again (especially now that we're three episodes ahead). Now, on with the festivities. Episode -10 is in the vein of the classic annual double issues of the comics, and from top to bottom it brings to the forefront new ways to approach fantasy gaming. Part One brings you Clinton R. Nixon (The Shadow of Yesterday) and Luke Crane (Burning Wheel), both of which bring you a way to bring characters to the fore in a fantasy setting. Listen and fantasize to the sounds of Episode -10 Part One. 9:05:2006 As you may have noticed, we have yet to put up a show for this week. There is a very good reason for this....we don't have one. Before you get mad, we decided to debut a new show we've been working on in our normal time slot and see how you like it. Its called SHOWDOWN!!!! we think it'll be something you want to hear. After you listen, tell us what you think about Round 1 here. -Tyler 8:28:2006 Episode -9 has arrived; welcome it with open arms. In this episode, Will Hindmarch tells us more about development of one of the industry's leading games. He's knee deep in this little project called Vampire: The Requiem. Maybe you've heard of it? Check out the show, and tell us what you think about it here. -Spike 8:21:2006 There is light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks to new employment, personal obligations, sickness, unexpected emergencies, the beginnings of WWIII, and losing all data for the show 3 times during mixdown, only now could we bring you all that is Episode -8. Now with 33% more tasteless humor at no additional cost to you, we introduce to you the cast of Gamers the movie. Check out their site via our links page. -Spike 8:13:2006 I'd like to apologize to some our guests for taking as long as I did with this, but I wanted folks to know that the links page is updated. Please check it out and get to know our guests and friends a little better. -Tyler 8:08:2006 Ahhhh, what to say about -7? It's great, it's hardcore, it's without peer (save for Episode 0-Episode -6). If it were a Fight Battle character, it's reference point would be...it would be....well it would be big. This time around we talk about a new mechanic that might rock the world to its core and the Gamestas community game, which may be the only thing saving the race from extinction. In addition to all that, Mike Mearls, developer for Wizards of the Coast, writer of Iron Heroes, and creative genius behind Fight Battle. He answers the tough questions, and helps us make further fools of ourselves. Sit next to and absorb Episode -7. -Tyler P.S. Feel free to go our forums and leaves us your thoughts on the show here (you got to register before you can post, so do that too). P.P.S. Tomorrow is Site Night! 8 pm central! Be here!

Please check it out, support our friend at The Escapist, and submit your own tell me (thanks to The Dr. and Jess Hartley for already throwing 'em down). -Tyler 8:02:2006 Tonight is Site Night! Come around the boards around eightish (central) and throw down your favorite topics. There's sure to be some cool folks slingin' the stuff. -Tyler 7:31:2006 Back from our pseudo-sabbatical of readying future content, we come back full force. Getting into the spirit of things with us, is the creator of Little Fears and Normal, Texas, Jason L. Blair. He raps on why he is such a seminal liar, who he wants to wrastle with, oh and we talk about game stuff too. Allow for your socks to get rocked off by Episode -6. -Tyler 7:18:2006 As I sit in Alabama, the temperature has climbed to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and my sweat is sweating. If you're in the same predicament, stay inside and listen to our interview with Sam Chupp, who talks about the early days at White Wolf, game design, and his myriad of projects. Eclectic and informative, cool down with Episode -5. -Tyler 7:11:2006 We know you have questions about playtesting some of the newer roleplaying games out there. How do we know, you may ask? Consult page 141 of the AD&D 2nd Edition Player's Handbook, and hit the forum here with your answer. But before you head there, go ahead and start downloading Episode -4. This week, we dive into the realm of playtesting with a few words on the subject from Matt McElroy from FlamesRising.com. Our featured guest is Monica Valentinelli and her game Occupation, which is currently in production. If you've ever wanted to be in the thick of game production (and get free schwag to boot), this is the episode to listen to. Oh, and the first to give me the answer may get a little something if they've been good this year. It may be a quick shout on the show; I may come over and clean your house. Who knows. -Spike 7:03:2006 First, before we get to the show, I'd like to remind folks that if you enjoy the show, joining the forums will allow you to get updates on new shows and expanding content. Once, you've joined up, we'd love to have you be a part of the expanding content, and the fore front of the shows future plans, by joining the Street Team. Now on with the festivities. This week, in addition to award winning game designer, Jared Sorensen, creator of InSpectres, OctaNe, Lacuna Part 1, and Darkpages, we connect the dots, and give an example of how separate ideas can be used to get you a step closer to your perfect game. Don't despair, The Gamestas are here, along with very different, Jared Sorensen. Listen and revel in Episode -3 . P.S. I'll be posting up the new Question of the Week on Tuesday, so watch out for that. -Tyler 6:26:2006 Once again it's Monday night and here I am putting up a new show. Pretty standard right? Well you're wrong! You'll have to listen to see just how wrong you are. I will tell you one thing though, we have as our guest Monte Cook, co-developer of Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition, and the head man of Malhavoc Press. Monte riffs about quite a few things, not least of which is the Ptolus work-out pla..., I mean Ptolus book coming out from Malhavoc. Listen and know Episode -2. -Tyler 6:19:2006 Once more into the breach, dear friends. We press ever onward with a new, exciting edition, with the kind of gaming talk only sworn enemies could have!!! That's right folks, you guessed it, Keith Senkowski is back for round two, and this time, we're wearing barbed wire gloves. Actually, Keith saved our bacon, and gave us some great ideas, but don't tell him that. So listen up folks, and enter the twilight zone of Episode -1. -Tyler 6:14:2006 As a reward for hitting 10 full length episodes, Tyler and I were granted the ability to travel to one moment in time, returning after only a short while. The path became clear after a moment that we should go back in time to the original episodes we recorded and add a beginning and end for future repackaging. As time grew thin, Tyler mixed down the new old episode and burned it to a CD. Straight from the past with a taste of the future comes Episode 0, which contains the original four segments we recorded with additional material regarding the state of our Gamestas community. -Spike 6:05:2006 It is Monday and you are lookin' at an all new edition of The Gamestas. This episode unveils all sorts of earth shattering revelations, from our Tri-Continental union, to the form which White Wolf hit squads are taking! With us, Jess Hartley, free lance writer, editor extraordinaire, and, most notably, Gamesta. Plus, we debut the theme song for one of the greatest games of all time. Episode 10. 5:29:2006 Another week and another punctual show posting, so I feel good. This a great show (no I don't say that everytime; okay so I do, but its always true) with Jonathon Ridd and his game Dog Town as the focal point. If you like smack talk about soccer, Fight Battle, and the best crime game around, I'd tell you to hear this one out. Enjoy Episode 9. -Tyler 5:22:2006 I have for you folks, a terrific show to sink your ears into. Within it is the substance of our conversations with Matt McElroy, the head badass of FlamesRising.com, and the writer of Sorcerer and the cofounder of the Forge, Ron Edwards. I also grow very grim at the beginning, and I am exhausted by the end. Now that's a night's work. Episode 8. -Tyler 5:21:2006 I am looking at doing a revamp on the forums in the days to come, changing things around to more accurately fit the demands of our listeners and the premise of the show. Spike will be handling any and all changes to the interface of the board, I'm just gonna be moving things around. Everything on the boards now will still be on there, just shuffled about a bit. Everything will be pretty easy to track down, so don't get too worried. -Tyler 5:16:2006 You've been waiting for a little sumpin', sumpin', but I think the wait may be worth it. Episode 7 begins our trek through Independent games, and the Gamestas starts with a great one. We've got Keith Senkowski for a full half hour of his life, completely uncensored! We talk about Conspiracy of Shadows, Jungle Speed, and most importantly, Spike. Get tuned in. As a bit of a bonus (call it interest on time elapsed), we're going to put up our interview with Matt McFarland, the developer of Promethean: The Created, before the spoilers spoil. Tune in here. -Tyler 5:15:2006 Oh good lord, a site update? You betcha. New content? On the way. Forum makeover? Sure. More in-depth info about our "humble" staff? If you insist. Merch? Check. Washed my car? Fuck no. But did I mention more updates? -Spike 5:04:2006 I updated the links page, so you've got links to all the great folks on Episode 6. Check those guys out, for all the folks that have come on the show, have the Gamestas Seal of Approval. -Tyler 5:01:2006 Here she blow's folks. Episode 6, both serious and absurd, has terrific guests and 2 a.m. humor. Who showed up this time? Ryan Wood the writer/director/producer of Fear of Girls: True Love is but a +2 Broadsword Away, and the long time roleplaying game advocate and purveyor of The Escapist, Bill Walton, are both here. Oh and the DeFurious rages before your very ears. Hopefully we embarrass neither you nor our guests, but we go a little crazy on this one. Get it here. Episode 6 -Tyler |
One thing common to many groups is the coming and going of players for any number of reasons. As the guy running the game, or an existing player, or the new guy, how do you think this coming and going should be handled? What should happen to the leaving players character? How should new characters be integrated? How much should the new guy be allowed to change the mood and flow of the game from what the other players are used to? Voice your opinion here.
